Case Study (Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage – Fremantle Prison)
The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage required Auditing from WHS specialists to comply to our internal (and WHS legislative) requirements in the works undertaken at the Fremantle Prison. These works included the renovation and conservation works of the Parade Grounds, Main Cell Block and Commissariat. We required specialised personnel with the ability to audit the Primary Contractors for suitability, for compliance to WHS legislation and ensuring WHS practices on site during works are of high standard.
Safety Solutions WA provided one of their consultants in Josh to achieve this and more. He was able to work with our contractors to not only audit their systems and ensure safety compliance, but also to assist them in improving their own systems, providing them with support needed to improve themselves during the scope of the projects.
Throughout the lifetime of the Fremantle Prison projects, Safety Solutions WA have continued undertaking the audits and providing feedback / recommendations which has been instrumental in ensuring that safety stays first on the agenda, that the works are being completed in a compliant manner and that personnel have an outlet for questions, queries and issues in relation to safety.
We want to thank Josh for his positive attitude and his ability to work flexibly with the contractors on the ground. His honesty has ensured that anything safety related that is noticed, is communicated with everyone involved and solutions are readily identified and effectively explained. We are very happy with his consistent approach and ability to drive down directly to any identified issue.
